CPU heatsink?
My cpu is heating much more recently i need to find a new heatsink. My CPU is an Intel P4 650. Im not sure how heatsinks work. of any heat sink just fit on top? to dispel any suggestions?
Heat sink and any compatible with Socket 775 (aka LGA775) will do well for you, it is always better than what you have. Zalman CNPS7700 is a good cooler for $ 40 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118115) but the Heat version, the CNPS8700 is a much better option (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118030&Tpk=CNPS8700). Either effectively cool the CPU, but I would say that instead of putting $ 50 in your sink, you must upgrade to a dual-core processor if your motherboard supports it. They will work better with sinks and values that are based on either 65nm or 45nm, which runs cooler than the P4, and run the new CPU with the stock of heat: the Celeron E1200 is a good deal at $ 50 and will eat her alive because it is a P4 Allendale (Core 2 line) with the reduction in the CPU cache. Also overclocking like a madman. However, look for the fool will probably need a better cooler. I guess we could pull a 2.0-2.4GHz and the stock HSF though. Even better for overclocking. This will kill your p4 its pink.
