Is the Apple AirPort Extreme wireless card compatible with standard wireless routers?

Is the Apple wireless card AirPort Extreme "normal compatible wireless routers I have a Belkin 54g router and I will get one of those MacMinis and wondered if the AirPort wireless card Extreme in it connects to the Internet wirelessly through normal Belkin 54g wireless router?
